During holidays Adelaide Uni students, that are studying Veterinary science or Animal Behaviour, are placed with us in order to complete their companion animal placement.
What benefits placement students is the ability to observe dog behavior in different environments and scenarios. Allowing the students to discover the best course of action when working with dogs that are showing signs of over-stimulation, high stress or anxiety.
Paws Adventure Daycare allows students to witness the impact force-free and positive reinforcement makes on a dog.
We hope that each and every student enjoys their time with us.
Unfortunately we do not take work experience students that are currently in high school. We only accept those who are currently studying in the field of animal care.
If you have had placement experience with us, please send us a testimonial via our email .
We would love to hear about your experience and share with others.

"I just wanted to thank you for an amazing week of placement last week. I was able to learn so much about the industry and animal behaviour which will be so valuable for my career.
Before this week of placement I was considering leaving vet as everyone told me I couldn’t practice if I didn’t want to use force. You showed me that it is possible, so this week was truly life changing. I can’t thank you enough, I will be recommending you to everyone I can. I want to remind you that you are doing truly amazing things. “
Placement date: 28th September - 2nd October 2020
"Thank you so much for literally restoring my faith in continuing this degree. My last experience I had made me reconsider if this was actually something I want to be doing - your passion and empathy has reassured me that I can do and enjoy becoming a vet even if bad experiences occur that would make me think otherwise. In short the time I spent with you I've honestly learnt so much about dog behaviour and training, more than I have learn't my entire life. Your compassion and motivation towards caring for dogs is so inspiring, combined with your ability to actually relate and empathies with people. I am so grateful that I was able to do placement with you.
Placement date: 8th February - 19th Februrary 2021
"Recently I chose to complete my veterinary placement at Paw’s Adventure Day Care. Leah and her team are extremely knowledgeable and passionate when it comes to dog training and handling, they are able to handle and control multiple dogs during their adventure days while also allowing the dogs to have fun and socialise. I learnt so much during my placement, it is amazing to watch dogs adapt their behaviour in different situations and environments, while also being responsive to Leah and her commands. I would highly recommend Leah for any dog training because of not only her training but also her ability to adapt and change training methods so that the dog and the owner are happier and are more confident together."
Placement date: 3rd January - 7th January 2022
"I would like to thank Leah, Wendy and Kate for an amazing week of placement I had with them. I was able to learn so much from them all especially about animal behavior in an abundance of situations and also how to train and interact with dogs in a force-free manner. Going to hydrotherapy with Leah on the last day is an experience I will remember for a lifetime, learning about how it can benefit the dogs and how behaviour can drastically differ in water compared to on land was very insightful. The love and motivation this team has for these animals is inspirational, and because of this experience I hope to have this same mindset throughout the rest of my schooling and future career."
